Written throughout the second half of 2017, The Synthetic Glasshouse is inspired by Lilli Waters' stunning work Plastic Fish.

While writing this work I imagined the fish's soundworld, trapped inside a plastic bag. plastic bag. It is a sonic collage of light, colour and texture. I was captured by the colours on the fish and the light that comes from behind its fin. The music reflects the immense beauty of the fish, as well as the darker reality that this fish is trapped.

The title The Synthetic Glasshouse implies two meanings; some level of beauty and wonder, as well as a darker side relating to the fish’s plastic prison.
